These are the results from the Amarillo, High School State Championship race weekend and the tentative, provisional overall results.

The Final High School Race of 2008 is this upcoming weekend at the State Championships in Amarillo, TX. Racing will be on Saturday and Sunday May 10th and 11th. All individual and team points will be worth double so the overall standings can still change drastically. You don’t want to miss this great weekend of racing!

On Saturday we will start the weekend with the ITT at 9:00am. We will follow the Time Trial with a Criterium starting at 3:00pm. Sunday morning will then feature the RR starting at 8:00am. I have attached maps of the RR and TT courses.
All three events will be held at River Road High School on the far north side of Amarillo at the intersection of I-287 and Mobley Rd. Our host hotel for the weekend is the Travel Lodge Hotel located at Paramount & I-40 West (806)-353-3541.
A block of rooms has been reserved for the League but I recommend that you make reservations asap. Check-in and Packet Pickup will be available at the Travel Lodge starting at 4pm on May 9th. Thanks to everyone who has raced so far this season. We have had 52 different individual racers and 18 different teams compete in the 2008 series. The final race of the series and the H.S. state championships will be May 10-11 in Amarillo and all points will be worth double so be sure to be there!

If you’ll be traveling without a parent, please fill out a release form ahead of time and have a parent sign it. Here’s a link to the release form. You can fill out all of the information on this form before you print it, if you want:

We’re running registration for a couple of hours on Friday evening – between 6 and 8 p.m. – in the student center on the MSU campus, however I’d strongly encourage all teams to just send me an e-mail BEFORE 4 P.M. When riders arrive at the road race on Saturday morning, they’ll have to fill out a release form before they can start. I’ll catch up with team leaders during the weekend to collect entry fee money. If a rider needs a race number, Matt Reynolds will be at registration on Friday night as well as at the road race start on Saturday morning.
Please just send one registration e-mail for each team. I’ll reply ASAP so you know the e-mail was received.
A A few things to be aware of:
The road race course is different from last year. It’s in the same general vicinity as last year’s on rolling hills – as hilly as it gets here in Wichita Falls!! The laps are shorter so we can make the race distances a little more appropriate for each category than we were able to do last year with the longer loop. Also, there is one minor typo in the flyer. Women B start at 8:20 a.m. High school starts at 8:25 a.m. (That’s just a five-minute difference than what’s listed.) There are driving directions in the race flyer.
The TTT course also is different. It will be out-and-back on the road that was between turns 3 and 4 of last year’s road race course. Parking will be in the same small park where everyone parked for last year’s road race. Please note that parking is approximately a mile from the TTT starting line. You can warm up on the road that parking is on.
The crit will be on campus, as it has been in the past. We’ll have primes during the races. Conference medals for the individual races, as well as season-long awards, will be awarded ASAP after the last H.S. crit ends.

The next race in the Richardson Bikemart and Bicycle Sport Shop high school race series will be on April 26th and 27th in Wichita Falls as part of the MSU collegiate race weekend and SCCCC conference championships. This race weekend will feature a RR, Team TT, and Crit and it promises to be our largest ever high school race with large teams coming from Austin, Lubbock, Amarillo, Jesuit, Birdville/LD Bell/TBI jrs, Wichita Falls, and even from Oklahoma among other teams.
